My Life

Meet the Cats

This is Tandy (Candy with a T). She was our first cat; my parents adopted her after months of me nagging, pleading and crying.

She is so lovely; she’s always meowing and following us around the house. She loves to play and most days is running up and down the passages chasing (or being chased by) our other cat Loki. Her fur is as soft as silk and she loves to lick us when she gets the chance to.

This is Loki. He loves to attack our feet, Tandy and anything else he can sink his  teeth and claws into when he’s in the mood to play

We didn’t buy him, we didn’t adopt him – he found us! At 1 a.m. sometime in December 2018/January 2019 my family and I woke up to this awful wailing outside. I peered through my blinds and in the darkness I could make out the silhouette of this tiny black kitten sitting near my window.

Now I had been wanting another cat for a while, but not just any cat – I wanted a black one. What are the odds that one shows up outside of our home right by my window in need of our help?

It took hours, but eventually he made his way into our garage where we were able to catch him. He was terrified of us and would swipe and hiss at us whenever we got too close to him (my dad did a full on rugby dive with a blanket to catch this kitten – it was quite something). We think he might’ve been abused because the end of his tail was broken, and it ended up healing like that; it doesn’t give him any pain, just adds to his character.

We kept him in our T.V. room until he was brave enough to come into the house and be taken to the vet. My sister and I sat on the couches and just waited, occasionally speaking to him; after a good few days he began coming out from his hiding spots to climb on, cuddle and play with us. We were eventually able to take him to the vet where they sterilized him and checked his overall health. He was in perfect shape and has brought my family and I nothing, but joy and laughter ever since (except when he uses his claws to hang onto the couch).

  1. Cuties! LOVE the name Loki for a black kitty who started off with being tricky to catch. We’ve got some friends who have a pair of dogs they’ve named Loki and Thor, haha β€” Loki is a sweetheart and a lady, but Thor is (more accurately to his name) a big blond galumph.

      1. I love cats so much. I share my home with two; a brother and sister combo deal called a Ginger and Georgie. They are my babies. My husband has had to learn to be a cat person πŸ˜› ❀️
